A mediating school

Our design aims to connect with the neighborhood through the interplay of brick and height. Surrounded by red and various brick facades, shops under a raised railway, and apartment buildings, we integrate traditional materials and the existing urban scale. This contemporary interpretation respects the context while adding new value.
The design is based on five elements from House Van Hee, designed by Marie-Joseé Van Hee, in Ghent, Belgium.

The building will house a small school with four classrooms and a gymnasium. The design centers around the garden—the heart of the school—which remains accessible to children from the neighborhood at all times.
